Are you ready for a knockout 2016?
The New Year is almost here and that means the newest edition featured in the Pro Boxers Calendar Collection is out! The boxing art was recently unveiled at The Palms Restaurant in Downey, Calif.
Here is my exclusive report and snapshots from the holiday gathering that showcased the third edition in this popular calendar collection.
This year’s glossy wall poster aims the lens at Aron “El Asesino” Martinez, Sindy “La Alacrana” Amador, Brian Castaño, Alan Castaño and Ezequiel Matthysse in various boxing poses. Two of the calendar models appeared in person at this month’s bash hosted by The Boxing Agency’s Alfonso Gomez and Dulce Padilla, the duo who produced the new 2016 calendar. Aron Martinez and Sindy Amador greeted the large crowd, posed for photos and signed calendars and postcards. Pro fighters Eddie de la Huerta (2015 calendar) and Efrain Esquivias (2014 calendar) also lent support at this festive outing.
It may have been a rainy SoCal night but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the loyal fans that came out to meet their heroes–and be among the very first to see the brand new wall calendar. The calendar sponsors include Señor Baja, Montebello Auto, Ronzio & Associates and Gano Excel. The images were shot by photographer Juan Carlos Galvez and Daniel Vazquez with hair by Ely Acevedo and makeup by Johanna Ortiz.
groupDuring the fiesta, several introductions and presentations were made by Alfonso Gomez. He brought up Marcelo Crudele from CMC Pro Boxing Gym (where this year’s calendar was shot) and also had a special Ten Count honoring California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) Inspector Rose Saavedra. Gomez and wife Dulce Padilla surprised veteran boxing photographer Mario Aguilar with an award as well. Also in attendance was pro boxer Aalan Martinez (brother of Aron Martinez) and trainer Alfonso Gomez Sr. and wife Lilly (parents of Alfonso Gomez and Hy3rid’s Robb Gomez and Zeuz Gomez).
“I want to thank everybody for their support,” Alfonso said at the mic. Gomez says this year’s calendar is the best yet and he already has plans for next year’s version.
Female puncher Sindy Amador was surrounded by fans and well wishers too. “I’m honored to be included in this calendar,” the SoCal pugilist told me with a big smile. “This is very exciting and I’m happy to be here with everyone.”
Local fight fans can get their complimentary calendar through the individual boxers and the posters can also be ordered online for a small fee.
And with this 2016 poster on your wall, you are assured a knockout 12 months ahead!
