“NoNo” Fights Bitter Rival THIS Wednesday!

noemi1The action is going down THIS Wednesday, October 19 at the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This will be a banner night as four fierce women are involved in this “Wednesday Night Fights” event. Champ Christy Martin’s Pink Promotions in association with Mercedes Vazquez’s Pretty Girl Promotions are presenting this special evening of live boxing in which six fights are scheduled.

On the bill are a pair of female fighters. Rosalinda Rodriguez (4-0, 1 KO) will face Noemi “La Rebelde” Bosques (11-7-2, 2 KOs) in a championship battle. This ladies’ match is the co-feature with the main event between Quinton Rankin and Michael Wilmer. The fierce chicas will trade leather for the vacant NABF Female Bantamweight title. This will be “Girl Power” in the ring with two strong chicas going toe to toe for the belt. Today, some of the boxers on Wednesday’s bash will have an open workout at the Ultimate Gym in Charlotte.

Hall of Fame fighter Christy Martin is looking forward to Wednesday’s wars. She says the crowd is in for a treat–especially with the Rodriguez-Bosques clash.

“The fans can expect a tremendous action packed bout between Noemi and Rosalinda,” the “Coal Miner’s Daughter” told me. “They are fighting for an NABF title and top ten ranking in the WBC. This is a career defining fight for each of them.”

And this NC night will also feature many other exciting pugs on the card.

“The card is full of top quality match ups,” Martin adds. “Quinton Rankin wants to make a statement to his hometown fans with an impressive KO. Christian Camacho is going to continue the Macho legacy from his father, Hector “Macho” Camacho, with an excellent performance in a battle against hungry Jovanni Said. Plus many more exciting bouts.”

I recently caught up with one of the females featured in the show. Champion Noemi Bosques made her professional debut in 2012. Since then, she’s fought in her home state of Florida along with bouts in Rhode Island, California, New York, Mexico, New Zealand and China. She successfully balances a career in prizefighting along with being a mother to daughter Breyanna. This rebel fighter also balances beauty and brawn as a boxer/model/actress. She is likable and funny; she doesn’t sugarcoat her words but is also a very positive person. She’s not afraid put in hard work and hustle in the fight game. When she’s not in the ring, she works at Tigers World Tampa. But being in the squared circle is her passion. And she’s willing to go “mano a mano” with anyone; she’s squared off against Mariana Juarez, Heather Hardy, Kenia Enriquez and more.

And in a couple of days she will be lacing up once again to take on the unbeaten Rosalinda Rodriguez for the NABF strap. It looks to be an exciting night of action with Rodriguez vs. Bosques, Mexico vs. Puerto Rico, Miami vs. Pinellas Park. The spunky boxer is goes by the ring name of “La Rebelde” and come Wednesday night plans to showcase her talent and spirit inside the ropes.

There is no love lost between this pair of female fighters. And this feud should be a fiery one. “NoNo” Bosques, 33, promises fireworks on the canvas. She beat Rodriguez, 30, in the amateurs but outside the ropes, the pair were friends. That changed when Rosalinda began calling Noemi out. Amigas no more.

“We were friends; I admired and looked up to her a lot. Now she hates me and I don’t know why,” Bosques says during our phone chat. “Then she started calling me out several times. I fought several of her teammates and she kept calling me out so I said, ‘If she waits for it, I will give it to her.'”

Come Wednesday, the two ladies will settle it all in the ring. And yes, expect nothing less than fireworks in this intense rivalry.

“Fireworks! Lots of fireworks! Two hot-headed Latinas with lots of experience since the amateurs–and a lot of Latin Pride,” she tells me. “I’m hoping just hoping she’s brave enough to stand toe to toe and isn’t running the whole fight. This is the pros now, we’re not amateurs anymore.”

Hear what else the Florida fighter has to say in this new interview including why she spars with men, how she keeps so busy through her own spunky self-promotion and take-charge attitude in getting matches, and MORE about the heated rivalry with Rosalinda Rodriguez!

noemiMichele Chong: Hi Noemi! You have a big fight coming up on October 19. On paper, you have a lot more experience than Rosalinda Rodriguez. What do you know about her?

Noemi Bosques: I know she has a lot of experience as an amateur. I also know that she is a boxer and likes to fight moving backwards. I know that for some reason she passionately hates me (I have no idea why) but the anger should make this a very interesting match! I’m looking forward more to this grudge match more than any other fight I’ve been in so far.

MC: This match is for a vacant NABF title. You are a WIBA International Super Flyweight champ but Rosalinda is undefeated. In your opinion, what gives you an edge over your opponent?

NB: The level of competition that I’ve faced far exceeds the level of competition she has ever been up against. Lets just say, she’s going to have an “eye opening” and probably an “eye closing” experience.

MC: How is training camp going? Can you tell us a little bit about your trainer, sparring partners, etc.?

NB: My trainer is very diligent when it comes to getting things done correctly, so I’ve grown a lot. Sparring has been great. I’ve had a mixture of men and women trying to kick my ass, and it’s yet to completely happen.

MC: Do you prefer to spar with males or females?

NB: I spar with whatever I can get. (Laughs) It’s more of a necessity. Sometimes it’s harder to find women to spar so I take whoever I can so if they’re are smaller men who I can spar with that’s great too.

MC: The Charlotte fight night is being promoted by champ Christy Martin and Mercedes Vazquez. Being a working woman in the sport is not easy. Have you (personally) faced a lot of obstacles trying to book fights?

NB: The first year was tough but I’ve learned what promoters like, and what fans need and this has aided me in building momentum! This will be my 9th fight in just a little over year! I feel very blessed, and God gets the glory of all these successes. I promise to always work hard in that ring and promote not only myself but any promoter who gives me these opportunities like Pretty Girl Promotion’s Mercedes Vazquez and Pink Promotion’s Chisty Martin have! I’m honored and thrilled to be on their card.

MC: Getting fights isn’t easy and it’s even more challenging for women. You’ve been extremely busy. You’ve definitely been on a roll!

NB: I’ve been blessed! I don’t have a promoter or manager so my team and I really have to network. I market myself and I guess the promoters like what they see. This has all been a huge blessing! And with modeling and acting, that has brought more exposure and more opportunities for me too.

MC: I know your father was a big influence in your love of boxing. Did you have any other role models (either male or female) that inspired you or influenced you while as an amateur or pro?

NB: As an amateur I spent a lot of time watching women fighters such as Susi Kentikian, Mariana Juarez, and even Ada Velez (who currently trains my opponent Rodriguez). They are some of who influenced me as an amateur. As a pro I enjoy following Amanda Serrano, Heather Hardy, and Cecilia Braekus.

MC: How did you balance motherhood with a successful amateur career?

NB: As an amateur motherhood was tough, but what made it easier was the amazing family I have. I was able to do some traveling and box at national level several times! This has helped with my confidence as a pro fighter.

MC: You are just 5′ 2″? Are people sometimes surprised that you are a professional boxer?

NB: Oh yes most definitely! Everyone is always surprised and I love it. I tell everyone I never want to “look” like a boxer, most of them usually look beat up and ugly!

MC: So Rodriguez vs. Bosques is a Florida vs. Florida, Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry. What can fans expect from your upcoming bout?

NB: Fireworks! Lots of fireworks! Two hot-headed Latinas with lots of experience since the amateurs–and a lot of Latin Pride! I’m hoping just hoping she’s brave enough to stand toe to toe and isn’t running the whole fight. This is the pros now, we’re not amateurs anymore.

MC: For boxing fans that aren’t necessarily fans of “women’s boxing,” what would you tell them? Why should they watch females in the ring?

NB: I feel women have a lot to prove. We definitely don’t fight for money because women only make a small fraction of what men do. When women fight, it’s pure passion. We put everything behind our punches. In my opinion, women’s boxing is more entertaining than the men who fight in there for a great pay day.

MC: And finally, would you like to give a shout out to any of your team, sponsors, supporters?

NB: Shout out to my amazing team of sponsors: Jaime Larrosa (Rivas Medical Center), Ted’s Auto Repair Service, Law Office of Anthony J Gonzalez Jr, Tiger’s World Tampa, Rafael Palaganas (Your Smile Studio), Tia’s Authentic Latin Restaurant, Logic Gonzalez. Also thanks to my trainer and best friend Tony Morgan for having the energy and patience to deal with my crazy behind. And my beautiful daughter Breyanna and my grandmother Norma for having unconditional love for someone like me. I’m truly blessed.

Fight fans, show your support to the ladies of the ring at “Wednesday Night Fights” with Pink Promotions and Pretty Girl Promotions. Proving women can be pretty (and strong) in pink, this show can’t be missed!

Rosalinda Rodriguez and Noemi Bosques will exchange blows in a scheduled eight-rounder for the NABF title.

MAY THE BEST WOMAN WIN.
