“Terrible” Morales Says Good Bye to Mexico City and heads to Monterrey!
March 20, 2010
After two months of training in the Otomi Mountains just south of Mexico City, three time world champion Erik “Terrible” Morales of Tijuana says he will be ready for Jose Alfaro on March 27th in Monterrey, MX, in his comeback fight after a two and a half year hiatus.
Morales finished off his intensive training this past Friday and offered a press conference.
“I feel pressure to be at my best at the time of the fight. I have the experience to handle a fighter, to know what to do inside the ring, I have the will to fight and that is why I lost the weight,” Morales stated. “I want to give a great performance.”
The Morales vs. Alfaro twelve round welterweight bout will be for the WBC International title.
“I would love to win by knockout but I am going to be at a different weight,” he shared. “After winning titles in super bantamweight, feather and super featherweight, I would love to win a fourth title.”

March 19, 2010
Manchester United goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel cannot wait for April 24. That is when fellow Dane Mikkel Kessler will challenge WBC Super-Middleweight Champion CarlFroch in the second round of the Super Six World Boxing Classic in Herning, Denmark. Today the broadcast program for the Kessler-Froch fight was officially presented at Mikkel Kessler´s gym in Copenhagen. Schmeichel admitted he is caught between a rock and a hard place. “I think this will be a fantastic fight,” he said. “Obviously, I am pulling for my countryman Mikkel Kessler. He is a national icon and will have five million Danes behind him on April 24. But having spent so many years in England, I really like Carl Froch. Just like Mikkel, he is a tough and a proud warrior. I have no doubts that we will see an epic battle between two real champions.”

ONCE AND FOUR ALL!
March 19, 2010

Saturday, May 22nd the Staples Center in downtown LA will see the 4th battle between Mexican warriors Israel Vazquez (44-4, 33 KO’s) and Rafael Marquez (38-5, 34 KO’s). 2 of the 3 fights were chosen as fight of the year and the first was very memorable also.

The only reason this fight would lose some luster is the thought that both fighters left a lot in the ring during their 3 wars. Either way, it was a great day at Staples Center in the Chick Hearn Court as both fighters and all their people were in attendance to promote this big event.
Oscar de la Hoya was there as was Gary Shaw and the participants in the co-main event Abner Mares (19-0, 12 KO’s) and the champ Yonny Perez (20-0, 14 KO’s).
Both fights look to be can’t miss and it should be a welcome addition to the Staple’s tradition.
Mayweather-Mosley drug testing
March 18, 2010
During a telephone conference earlier today Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley both agree to take random drug testing as they prepare for there showdown on Saturday, May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The program involves no-advance-notice sample collection of the athletes’ blood and urine prior to and after the fight so that all banned substances, some of which do not show up in urine alone, are tested for thoroughly.

They will be beginning the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) gold standard anti-doping program on Monday, March 22.
“I am excited that Shane Mosley and I are willing to take these tests to ensure a fair fight on May 1,” said Mayweather. “I just want to show the world that boxing is a clean sport and it is my hope that all fighters will take a similar stance and responsibility which reflects sportsmanship at the highest level and sets a new standard for safety in boxing.”
Floyd Mayweather Jr. uses illegal injections
March 18, 2010
Boxing is often called the sweet science, if only it was that sweet. Its funny how during the election campaigns, candidates pay thousands of dollars to air attack ads via TV commercials to win an advantage with negative aspects of an opponent or of a policy rather than emphasizing one’s own positive attributes. This happens often in boxing as well.
Take Floyd Mayweather Jr., he accused Pacquiao of using performance enhancing drugs for not accepting the Olympic drug testing, now I am not saying Pacquiao is guilty, but it makes you wonder if he’s hiding anything.
Many people might not know this but Floyd Mayweather Jr. uses illegal injections. Mayweather takes pain-alleviating injections before each bout which are permissible under certain, limited and medically documented conditions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Meaning Floyd Mayweather Jr. can only fight in the State of Nevada because the substance he uses are illegal in all other states and that is why he only fights in Las Vegas and maybe that is why he refused to fight Pacman at the Dallas stadium.
Big Debuts at “The Brawl at the Hall 1″
March 17, 2010
Villanueva turns pro at first Reseda show
A lot of debuts took place at this past weekend’s “The Brawl at the Hall 1″ boxing show promoted by Fred McCurry and the Fulton Street Fight Club. Matchmaker Hervi Estrada and McCurry featured seven bouts on their inaugural card. The night was McCurry’s very first foray into promoting fights and it also served as super flyweight Matthew Villanueva’s debut into the pro ranks along with four other fighters also making their long-anticipated debuts.
If you missed out on McCurry and Estrada’s first show together, you’ll get a second chance as the two are already planning their next event. The American Legion Hall in Reseda was a throwback to intimate club fights of the past with many in the audience saying they liked the “old school” feel of the building. Speaking with veteran matchmaker/promoter Estrada while he was at Nokia Plaza for tonight’s St. Patrick’s Day event, he said, “Fred broke the ice with this show and we’re really happy with the outcome. I can’t wait for the green light for our next show!”
Pacquiao-Mayweather is an illusion ,give me Margarito
March 17, 2010

Everyone is excited about the possibilities of Manny Pacquiao stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Don’t get me wrong, I also want to see this fight but it is not going to happen anytime soon so why get your hopes up?
First, Floyd Mayweather needs to win against Shane Mosley on May 1, which is not going to be a walk in the park.
Second, last December Pacquiao filed a defamation lawsuit in the state of Nevada against Floyd Mayweather Jr., Floyd Mayweather Sr., Roger Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer for defamatory statements accusing Pacquiao of using performance enhancing drugs.
If you where being sued, would you give Pacquiao the biggest payday of his carrier?
Third, Bob Arum hates Floyd Mayweather Jr. There’s no way of sugar coating it, it is what is. Arum could have made this fight but chose not too. I personally think Manny Pacquiao is scared of Floyd Mayweather.
Add One More To The List!
March 17, 2010
Not only did Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38KO) make his latest opponent Joshua Clottey (35-4, 20KO) look like a punching bag with arms -which were hardly used- last Saturday night but he also defended his WBO welterweight title for the first time. Along with the successful defense, Pacquiao’s popularity along with Top Rank’s Bob Arum’s promotional know-how stuffed over 50,000 fans into Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, TX, for the first bout to be waged inside the what is soon to be declared as one of the eight wonders of the world.
But Pacquiao did much more than that. He set unofficial records for the largest entourage seen since the G.O.A.T. Muhammad Ali last fought, reportedly at 140 followers strong and his dog, “Pacman”. Pacquiao’s entourage was so large that he had to charter his own private yet to fly them from Los Angeles.
