King vs. Olmeda on DMG Show 10/18

Lawrence King (18-1, 14 KOs) will be fighting for the Junior NABF Light Heavyweight title Saturday, October 18 at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, Calif. The rising star continues to punch his way to the top as he faces Puerto Rico’s Bradley “The Underdog” Olmeda (9-1, 5 KOs) for the championship belt.
DMG Boxing’s “Night of Champions V” will take place this Saturday night in association with Top Rank Boxing, Supreme Boxing, KO Fitness Gym, The Three Knockdown Rule, Happy Jewelers, Fightbook, Casa Mexico, Drive-it, Auténtico Corajillo, and Tork Law.

King vs. Olmeda is the main event topping a stacked card that will also showcase (in separate bouts) Elvis Rodriguez, Art Barrera Jr., Sam Arnold, Josaphat Navarro Perla Bazaldua, Abel Alba, he pro debut of Maya Hernandez and more.

I had a chance to catch up with Lawrence King at a couple of sparring sessions recently held at the private DMG Boxing Gym in Orange County. The light heavy said he’s looking forward to fighting on the DMG shows as he is a new signee, officially joining their talented stable just of couple of months ago. He looks to put on a great show at the “Night of Champions V” and keep on adding wins to his professional record (with just one blemish from 2018).
A natural athlete who grew up in San Bernardino, Calif., Lawrence, 28, told me that he was originally a football player while growing up. But the rough neighborhoods and tough streets were filled with temptation…and he admits he got into some trouble. In a life-changing crossroads moment, it was his football coach who believed in his abilities which gave him the confidence to aspire for more. Enter the sport of boxing and it’s been a great fit for the Southern California KO artist.
I first met Lawrence when he was just a teen and training alongside Ryan Garcia. The southpaw remains close to the Garcia family, who assisted him greatly in the early years. He’s also fought on several of Canelo’s undercards. Lawrence is currently training with acclaimed coach Trevor Sambrano (who led Brandon Adams to the upset victory on the Canelo-Terence Crawford card) and the two have an excellent rapport in their training camps.
Putting in the work, all that’s left now is the official weigh-in and Saturday night’s clash for the NABF strap. And for fans who can’t make it out to Long Beach, you can stream the fights through the Millions app.
Don’t miss out on an action-packed evening of live boxing as King plans on having his fist raised in victory!
