New Company with Champ Shawn Hawk & Echo Lynn

Boxing fans and pro fighters, get ready for a brand new promotion bringing the fight game to North Dakota, the Upper Midwest and Indian County!
One of my favorite couples in the sweet science has just shared some exciting news. Former professional boxer Shawn “Sioux Warrior” Hawk and his wife and master beader Echo Lynn Matthey (Echo Lynn Designs) are embarking on this highly-anticipated new business–Cetan Promotions. Shawn is the CEO/promoter of Cetan Promotions and Echo is the VP of Operations of their knockout new company. This Native-owned boxing promotions promises to bring the best together at future live fights, community events, youth programs and so much more.
Boxing champion Shawn was also an amateur standout and knows the ins and outs of the sport; and his wife and partner Echo has always been in his corner. This KO couple attended many events in Southern California and Nevada and are known for their support and generosity in boxing. Echo’s hand-beaded earrings, bracelets, writing pens, and lanyards have become sought-after collectibles among the boxing champs, celebrities, luminaries and fans across the glove. And now this popular duo will bring their own signature touch and Midwestern values to pro boxing events across the U.S.
I can’t wait to attend a Cetan Promotions event! The sky’s the limit for this hardworking couple. A big congrats to Shawn and Echo. And scroll below for all of the official details!

BISMARCK, N.D. — Professional boxing veteran Shawn “Sioux Warrior” Hawk, one of South Dakota’s most accomplished professional fighters, has officially launched Cetan Promotions LLC, a Native-owned boxing promotion company dedicated to bringing premier professional boxing events to North Dakota, the Upper Midwest, and Indian Country.
Cetan Promotions is now accepting inquiries from professional fighters, managers, trainers, matchmakers, sponsors, tribal nations, and community partners interested in working together to grow the sport.
An enrolled member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, Hawk compiled an outstanding amateur record of 120-15, winning multiple national championships before turning professional in 2004. During his professional career, Hawk amassed a record of 23-3-1 with 17 knockouts, captured both the USBO Cruiserweight and USBO Light Heavyweight Championships, and challenged undefeated champion Nathan Cleverly for the WBO World Light Heavyweight Championship in 2012.
After more than two decades in boxing, Hawk is turning his attention toward creating opportunities for others.
“Cetan Promotions isn’t just about putting on great fights,” Hawk said. “It’s about building champions inside and outside the ring. Boxing teaches discipline, accountability, respect, perseverance, and confidence. Those same values can change lives.”
The company plans to promote professional boxing events throughout North Dakota while working closely with tribal nations and local communities to create programs that inspire and empower Native youth.
Future initiatives include:
- Youth boxing and fitness clinics
- Leadership and motivational speaking events
- School assemblies
- Anti-bullying and healthy lifestyle programs
- Mentorship opportunities with professional athletes
- Community wellness events
- Partnerships with tribal youth programs
- Bringing nationally recognized boxing champions and respected speakers to Native communities
“Cetan” means hawk in the Lakota language, reflecting the company’s Native roots and its commitment to honoring Indigenous values while creating opportunities for future generations.
“Cetan Promotions is about changing mindsets,” Hawk said. “If we can help one young person believe in themselves, stay in school, avoid drugs and violence, or chase a dream they never thought was possible, then we’ve already won something bigger than any championship belt.”
The promotion is currently seeking:
- Professional fighters
- Amateur boxers preparing to enter the professional ranks
- Managers and trainers
- Matchmakers
- Event sponsors
- Tribal governments
- Casinos and entertainment venues
- Community organizations interested in youth partnerships
As a Native-owned business, Cetan Promotions aims to become a leader in professional boxing while creating lasting opportunities for athletes, communities, and Native youth throughout the region.
