DMG Boxing and Top Rank Host a KO Night!

DMG Boxing’s “Night of Champions V” was a spirited night of fights that ignited Saturday, October 18 at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, Calif.

This live boxing show was presented in association with Top Rank Boxing, Supreme Boxing, KO Fitness Gym, The Three Knockdown Rule, Happy Jewelers, Fightbook, Casa Mexico, Drive-it, Auténtico Corajillo, and Tork Law. After promoting their very first show in April of this year, DMG Boxing is quickly becoming a fan favorite for live shows in the Southland.
And their recent show was another crowd pleaser with a standing-room only audience cheering on the fighters featured in 13 bouts of action. There was also a lot of respect given to the female athletes on the card who showcased their skills inside the ropes. There were a couple of young up-and-comers who notched a W on their records.
Saturday night shined the light on a super flyweight bout between 20-year-old Perla Bazaldua (3-0-1, 1KO) and 24-year-old Yazmin Martinez (3-2-2, 1KO) for six rounds in an exciting back-and-forth battle that had the audience on their feet! The ladies fought in two-minute rounds and gave it everything they got. When the last punches were thrown and the final bell sounded, everyone waited for the decision. Ring announcer Lupe Contreras then read the official scores declaring Bazaldua vs. Martinez a split draw (56-58, 59-55, 57-57)!
The other female fighter on the card was the pro debut of 19-year-old Maya Hernandez (1-0). She faced Sandra Magallon (1-1) in a bantamweight match that went the distance with Hernandez winning her first victory as a brand new professional fighter. She scored a unanimous decision with the tally of 40-36 from all three judges.
There was a lot of applause these ladies in the fight game throughout the evening. The arena cheered all the combatants on and the atmosphere in the venue was electric. It was my first time watching boxing in this theater. Thunder Studios provides expansive seating with good views from all angles, a fully-serviced concession and bar area and TV screens in the lobby so spectators will not miss any of the punches in the ring. And for fight fans that can’t make it in person, the DMG fights also stream live on streaming on Millions.co

And spotted in the large crowd were several familiar faces–women working in the sport of boxing including the World Boxing Council’s (WBC) Nancy Rodriguez. She awarded a Junior NABF Super Featherweight championship strap to Otar “Pitbull” Eranosyan, who delivered a Round 4 knockout win versus Emmanuel Dominguez.
The WBC also had a photo booth in which fans could hold a green and gold championship belt and even pose behind a huge WBC standup belt.

There were several sponsorship tables in which visitors could get some fun free swag, win tickets to sporting events (courtesy of Tork Law), meet the Supreme Boxing team, and take selfies with special guest such as Brianda Cruz (Pan American Games medalist and 2020 Olympian), who is now 3-0 as a pro. Female rising stars Roxy Verduzco, Brook Sibrian and Emely Sandoval were also in attendance.

Melissa Garcia (daughter of legendary trainer Max Garcia) was also at the fights lending support. And there were a couple of photo booths in which the ticket holders could pose with the Fightbook Ring Card Girls and also get a free T-shirt too.

A shout out to other hard-working women working at the DMG/Top Rank show include DMG’s Amanda Alcorta, California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) judge Krysti Rosario, ringside photographer Lina Baker, etc.

DMG Boxing is staying busy and already planning their next show “Night of Champions VI” scheduled for November 21.
